Academic Support, Career
Services and Studying Abroad
CU understands that college is a challenging experience, and
in order to be successful, we encourage you to be aware of all of
the resources offered.
Academic Support
Academic support and tutoring are available for all students
enrolled in the college and for students from other colleges taking
engineering courses and planning to do an intra-university transfer.
You may find support in your engineering studies through any of the
following academic support programs:
Engineering Peer Advocates, the Quadrangle Community
Engineering and Sciences Residential Program, Study Skills Seminars, the
Multicultural Engineering Program, and the Women in Engineering Program.
Planning Your Future
It's never too early to think about life after college. Check
out our Career Services page
for information on internships and how to post your resume online.
Mentoring
Check out MentorNet,
an online mentoring network for all students in engineering and science
(free of charge). As a student transitioning through college and
geared up to start a career, you can gain valuable encouragement,
advice, and insights from a professional in your field of interest. MentorNet pairs up students one-on-one with
professionals in numerous industries and locations across the U.S.
and is entirely online. Graduate students can find mentors in academia
and research. Finding a mentor now will help you learn to find
mentors at your future workplace, which is critical to adjusting and
even advancement. One student who used MentorNet reported: “I am
really enjoying getting advice from someone in the real world. My
mentor is wonderful and I really appreciate all of her advice.” If
you have any questions, please contact Bev Louie at
beverly.louie@colorado.edu. Sign
up for MentorNet at
www.mentornet.net.
Studying Abroad as an Engineer
Study abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience and
study in a completely different culture than your own. Since the
college's required class load is so demanding, we suggest that if
you wish to study abroad, contact your advisor immediately to start
planning. To investigate the options of what foreign country you'd
like to study in, please visit the
Study
Abroad website.
International Engineering Certificates The college offers International Engineering Certificates in German, Spanish,
French and Italian. Click here for more information. Other Student Resources
