College Rankings The College of Engineering and Applied Science at CU-Boulder is a Tier One professional school—one of the top-ranked engineering schools in the nation. The following rankings, published annually by U.S. News and World Report, are based on surveys of more than 190 engineering schools that grant doctoral degrees. The Economist published a survey ranking the University of Colorado at Boulder the 11th best public academic university in the world and the 34th best academic university globally. Boulder County was recently ranked one of the best places in the country for small businesses.
