Oracle Partnership Results in New Noncredit Certificates

As part of its mission to extend graduate-level engineering and technical education to working professionals, CAETE has partnered with Oracle Corporation's training division (called Oracle University) to offer two new noncredit certificates: Oracle Developer and Oracle Database Administrator. Students who complete either of these four-course series will receive a certificate of completion from CU-Boulder and will be prepared to take Oracle's certification exams.

The Oracle courses use the same textbooks used by Oracle University and offer hands-on, lab-based instruction spanning an eight-week period that allows individuals to absorb and practice the material. Courses are offered on campus on Saturdays, which allows working professionals an opportunity to expand their skills without taking time away from the office.

Through this partnership, CAETE is able to offer these courses at roughly half the cost of the same courses from Oracle University and other vendors. Students who enroll in any Oracle course also receive a membership with the Oracle Workforce Development Program, which offers a 40 percent discount on Oracle certification exams among other benefits.

CAETE strives to establish partnerships with industry to offer customized engineering and technical training, such as these Oracle classes, while continuing to work with CU engineering faculty to offer short courses in their fields of expertise. These noncredit courses provide valuable opportunities for working professionals to gain new skills and further develop their careers.
