Interacting with & Investing in Students
 |

Lockheed Martin Corp. supports the college
through student scholarships and funding for research and
hands-on learning. "We are interested in the growth and
development of students as well as in helping the educational
institution to understand the needs of industry," says Tom Marsh

Astronautics in Denver. |

Engineering companies can meet and interact with top students—and be in
a strong position to recruit them for opportunities within their
organization—by becoming a college partner.
This can be done in a variety of ways, from funding a student
scholarship to sponsoring and mentoring students in a design or research
project.
Scholarships & Fellowships
Full or partial annual scholarships can make the difference in talented
undergraduates choosing to attend CU.
Corporate-sponsored graduate fellowships also can attract the best and
brightest talent to CU-Boulder. Our corporate relations staff can help
you establish a mutually beneficial partnership for your company and our
students.
Student Project Sponsorship
The college’s emphasis on active, hands-on learning, with
capstone design projects required in every major, provides many
opportunities for companies to meet and mentor students in projects
related to their field.
ITL Fall and Spring Design Expos Volunteers from engineering industry serve as judges
at this semi-annual event, where more than 300 students each
semester present their engineering projects to the community.
Company representatives can get a first-hand look at the quality of CU
engineering students while helping to judge projects on their
originality, craftsmanship, understanding of engineering principles,
effectiveness and presentation.
Gifts of Equipment or
Technology (Gifts-in-Kind)
The college is a great place to showcase equipment and technology
to future engineers. Gifts to departments and programs enhance the
quality of education we deliver and the students who enter the
workforce. Let us hear your goals and interests.
Endowments Make
a Lasting Impact
Companies can create a lasting impact on student learning by
creating an endowment for a program or faculty position within it.
Examples include the Lockheed Martin Engineering Management Program,
which was established through a partnership between the company and
university to provide education in engineering management to working
professionals. Endowing a faculty position also can help to ensure the
continued strength of a program that is vital to industry interests.
New Biotechnology Building
CU-Boulder is planning a new biotechnology building for opening
in late 2009. The building will house over 60 faculty working in
engineering and the life sciences, along with more than 600 students and
other researchers in a state-of-the-art facility on CU’s East Research
Campus. Please contact us about opportunities for corporate involvement.
Matching Employee Gifts
Corporate matching programs maximize the power of employee gifts to
the college by doubling their impact.
