Engineering Excellence Fund

ACEC (American Council of Engineering Companies) Scholarships ($30,000 in available funds). Students must be enrolled full-time in ABET accredited engineering programs (includes all of our majors except Computer Science, Applied Math, Engineering Physics and Chemical and Biological) and pursuing a Bachelors Degree. Students must be US citizens and entering their junior, senior or fifth year in fall of 2009. Students graduating in December 2009 are not eligible. CU Engineering Merit Scholarship for 2009 CU Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors is available at https://ecadw.colorado.edu/scholarshipapplication/index.aspx To be eligible for these scholarships you will need to be enrolled full-time in the College of Engineering. All students are encouraged to apply. Application deadline is March 2, 2009

CU Office of Financial Aid Scholarships: Check this site www.colorado.edu/finaid for scholarships that require financial need; but there are also some here that are merit based so please check carefully. Application deadline is March 2, 2009  You can also check the national site at www.finaid.org

Elevations Credit Union offers scholarships for graduating high school seniors and students already enrolled in a college level program. Applications are accepted beginning January 1, 2009. Special Topics: Journey to Space

Course Description: This new one credit hour course is designed for sophomore and junior level engineering students (ALL MAJORS) who have interest in the aerospace industry. Students will learn about spacecraft design and control concepts. The course will provide outstanding preparation for future hands-on experience in the Colorado Space Gant Consortium projects and/or for a professional internship.

1. Write and/or update your resume. Have it ready to send out and to give to employers at the January Career Fair.

- Review the companies that are attending. Research  companies of interest so that you have good questions for employers at the fair.

3. Explore other ways to find a job (besides websites). Make an appointment with Career Services to discuss job searching strategies in more depth.
- Find companies that are in your interest area, such as "robotics" or "aerospace."
- Find professionals to talk to about your interests and gain career advice.

4. Get career advice from an engineer or scientist. CU is a member of MentorNet, which matches students with professionals from all sectors of science and engineering as mentors for one-on-one,
(e-mentoring) relationships. You will receive: information, encouragement, advice and access to professional networks in two easy steps:

The LASP Space Flight Operations Team has opportunities for undergraduate employment as Command Controllers. Candidates would start May 25th, 2008 and employment would continue through subsequent school years. The position requires a commitment of 40 hours a week during the first summer for training and 20 hours during the school year.
